Chess tournaments and competitions in Bangkok 35

Much of Bangkok's organised chess happens at tournaments: open championships, monthly rapid and blitz events, junior and inter-school championships, and series held in shopping malls such as The Mall LifeStore and Gateway Ekamai. Recent editions of the national championship and the national junior championship were both played in Nonthaburi, on the city's northern edge.

International schools host many of the junior events, among them Bangkok Patana, NIST, TCIS and King's College, usually on a Sunday. Academies and clubs such as Red Knight, JCA and Fat Cat run their own rated rapid, blitz and standard events, and the Bangkok Chess Club holds an annual open in April. Entry rules, fees and time controls change from edition to edition, so open the organiser's page before you register.
