Rapid chess tournaments in Bangkok 21

Rapid is the everyday tournament format in Bangkok: a whole event often fits into a single day, usually at a weekend, in a mall, a hotel or a school hall. The mall series are the easiest to find: the Thailand Series in The Mall shopping centres and at Seacon Square, the Gateway Open at Ekamai and Bang Sue, the Unisus event at The Street Ratchada, Wonderland at Fortune Town, and a circuit through Central, Lotus, Big C Ratchadamri and Imperial World that runs makruk, Thai chess, beside international chess.

Young players have their own rapid calendar: monthly youth events at Double Bishop and at JCA on Srinakarin Road, Happy Pawn's youth tournament at the Alliance Française, the Kidzilla league for children in Nanglinchi, and school events such as Carroll Prep and the International Christian School in Nonthaburi. Other rapid events include the Thailand Diplomat Championship, the KMUTNB university championship, the RBSC and Polo Club championship, Masterpiece, TigerDen and the Indian-Thai tournament, and Fat Cat and Red Knight add rated rapid for players who want a rating.
