Blitz chess tournaments in Bangkok 9

In blitz each player has only a few minutes for the whole game, so an afternoon can hold many rounds. In Bangkok it comes either as a monthly rated event, where every game counts towards a rating, or as a section added to a larger tournament. The Bangkok Chess Club holds a rated blitz each month, Red Knight pairs its monthly rated rapid with a blitz event, usually on a Sunday, and JCA holds a Blitz Party at Paradise Park on Srinakarin Road.

Blitz also runs beside rapid and standard play. The Bangkok Chess Club Open adds a blitz event to its yearly open, the Royal Bangkok Sports Club holds a monthly blitz next to its yearly championship at the RBSC Polo Club, TigerDen and the KMUTNB university championship have blitz sections of their own, and the Thailand Diplomat Championship has been played at blitz speed. The mall circuit that pairs international chess with makruk, Thai chess, holds blitz days at Imperial World and other shopping centres. Blitz suits players who already know the clock well.
