Tournaments for young players 9

Junior chess in Bangkok follows the international-school calendar. Bangkok Patana, NIST, TCIS, King's College and KIS each host a championship, mostly on a Sunday and usually organised with the Red Knight Chess Club, and several of them split players into age groups from the youngest upwards, with a rated section for stronger juniors. Chess Without Borders, held with the Australian International School, adds a rated category for younger players.

Outside the schools, Happy Pawn holds a rapid youth tournament every quarter at the Alliance Française, the Unisus academy has given its monthly rated rapid tournament at The Street Ratchada a section for younger players, and the Thailand Chess Association runs the national junior championship each year at a shopping mall in Nonthaburi. Entry fees, age groups and time controls differ, so read each event's rules first.
