Rated chess tournaments in Bangkok 22

Rated chess in Bangkok runs from the national championship and the national junior championship, both played at Chaeng Wattana in Nonthaburi, to yearly opens such as the Bangkok Summer International Open, the Bangkok Chess Club Open and the Big Rook International Chess Festival. Shorter rated events fill the rest of the calendar: the Thailand Series rapid in The Mall shopping centres and at Seacon Square, the Unisus monthly event at The Street Ratchada, the standard games of The Rooky Monthly in a shopping centre, and the Wonderland tournament at Fortune Town.

Academies and clubs run their own rated series: Red Knight's monthly rapid and blitz, usually on a Sunday, the Bangkok Chess Club's monthly blitz, JCA's standard games at Paradise Park on Srinakarin Road, Fat Cat's rapid in Khlong San, and Big Rook's after-work tournament in Watthana, played a round each evening. International schools such as Bangkok Patana, NIST, TCIS and King's College add a rated category for stronger juniors to their Sunday championships. These events suit players who want every game to count towards a rating.
