Sunday chess tournaments in Bangkok 8

Sunday is the main tournament day for young players in Bangkok. International schools host inter-school championships on a Sunday: Bangkok Patana, NIST, TCIS, King's College and KIS each hold one, most of them run with the Red Knight Chess Club, with sections by age and often a rated category for stronger juniors. Chess Without Borders, at the Australian International School's campus on Sukhumvit, follows the same pattern.

Happy Pawn holds its youth rapid tournament on a Sunday at the Alliance Française, a gentler start for a child who has so far played only in class. Adults have a Sunday game too: Red Knight's monthly rated rapid and blitz usually falls on one. School championships follow the school year, so their dates can shift with term breaks and holidays, and an event can move from its usual Sunday to another weekend.
