About this list
These are the places where you can sit down to a game: cafés and pubs that keep boards, clubs that accept visitors, and venues that host a regular social evening. The open-play scene here is small next to the tournament calendar, and it shifts; a bar that hosted a weekly chess night may stop when its organiser moves on.
Most of it is along Sukhumvit and around Siam: the Bangkok Chess Club's Friday night in Phrom Phong, the Red Knight Chess Cafe in Khlong Toei, the Tuesday chess evening at the Foreign Correspondents' Club, and board-game cafés near Chulalongkorn University and in MBK Center. Academies such as CapyChess at Seacon Square and Unisus at The Street Ratchada and Samyan Mitrtown also keep free-play areas open at weekends. Open the schedule link or the organiser's page before you set out.
